I've always favored the poetry and grandeur of the King James Bible over the newer translations. I like this New York Times article by Charles McGrath on why the King James version has endured for so many centuries.

New Al Gore Poem
Vanity Fair has been singing the praises of Al Gore for his new apocalyptic poem on the end of the world as we know it. Here's one you may have missed:
I grieve, with my colleagues
who stand aghast and wonder how it happened
WE HAD CONSENSUS OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY!
Exposed fake data thwarts us
like some hanging chad.
The economy is weak and
gas prices too low.
Obama spent his wad already,
and no matter how much I try to sound like Dillon
Hard rain still falls...
Michael Moore, what shall we do?
We need more polar bear photos.
