It seems they are unaware that when you force consumers to deal with software they don't want, it makes them angry - witness the abysmal one-star rating and pages of angry comments at the app store.
It's not that they are not making money on the app. Force feeding pays in the short run. However, the brand damage and losses in customer loyalty could hurt in the long run.
