No child's leftist behind: Cheaters get a pass

When the Federal Government decided to get involved in education - an area which is constitutionally within the jurisdiction of the states - the results are predictable.  The No Child Left Behind program which offers big bucks to school districts that comply has schools clamoring to make sure that no student fails - regardless of whether they actually learn enough to warrant passing grades.  There is a lot of pressure on teachers to make sure kids pass.  Thus failing grades are eliminated and cheaters are excused because they drag down the average scores if punished.
The West Potomac High School in Fairfax County, Virginia are the poster child for how this is hurting.   Here's just one example of how the system is being turned upside down from local Virginia Radio Station new site WTOP.com (quoting the Washington Post):

"West Potomac High School in Fairfax County, which previously asked its teachers to eliminate Fs from the grading scale, is now prompting faculty to offer students caught cheating a chance to retake the test instead of receiving a zero, according to a Washington Post report."

Maybe there's some "cheating" going on at the board level as well?  See Barbara Hollingsworth: Fairfax public schools officials cheat on test scores at the Washington Examiner.

Rand Paul must have read my blog...?

Here's a quote from Rand Paul on NBC's Today Show as reported by Deseret News in Salt Lake City (Associated Press story):

Republican Rand Paul, who won a Kentucky Senate seat in a race powered by tea party support, said Americans need not fear gridlock in the next Congress because "debate is healthy."
"It seems like the most fiscally conservative government is always divided government," Paul said on NBC's "Today" show.

Clearly he is reading my blog (see Here's to partisan bickering).

I'm from the government...

I'm from the government, and I'm going to give you health care - whether you like it or not!

At least with car insurance, I can choose not to own or drive a car.  Millions of Americans in big cities do.  With Obamacare, I have to pay for it, or be fined.

All they really had to do was make it illegal for insurance companies to decline people with previous conditions, and make them offer the same services to everyone at the same price.  Employers would continue to pay a share for employees, and unemployed/self-employed people would pay the same rate as employed.

Let the people choose. You shove it down our throats, and we are going to rebel.  We've done it before. The ballot box makes it easier this time.  The tea parties were just a warning. We are planning to clean out Washington next election.

Obama is a smart guy. No really...

Obama has found a new way to stimulate spending and increase government revenue without raising taxes.  He plans to fine anyone who cannot afford health insurance...I never would have thought of it!
