My boss brought up an interesting point this morning. We've been asking, "when will it flood?" Perhaps we should be asking, "what if it doesn't?"
Does anyone remember when Utah has much larger glaciers - snow that stayed year-round, year-after-year? What if those conditions returned?
Or what if we went through a cool summer like the one a few years ago when it rained right up to July, only longer? Then we'd be in the position of starting winter with the mountains already full of snow. We are already several times the normal snow-pack in our watershed.
Has anyone noticed that there is a long streak of (presumably) avalanche related snow far below the snow-line on Mt. Timpanogos? Is it possible that new glaciers might form if it stays cool?
Well, if you ask me, I'd say...I dunno.
