Why my family doesn't let me play with fire in the kitchen...

You may wonder why my family won't let me play with fire in the kitchen.  Well, there are several reasons.  There is a certain standard that one must attain growing up, before your mother will let you use the stove on your own.  First of all, you should be able to look at the little diagram of burners on the front of the stove and tell which one means "front" and which one means "rear".  I'm still working on that though it has been some time since I've ruined any cookware.

Secondly, one should know the difference between the meaning of 2:30 on the microwave versus the same indicator on the oven.  I have learned that getting those mixed up can yeild certain unpleasant results. Fortunately, we do keep a fire extinguisher in the pantry, just in case. Yes, enough said on that.

Is it just me? Does anyone else feel challenged in these ways?
