Just today my nine-year-old announced that she is eleven. I asked her mother about this, and sure enough, Mother confirmed it. "You skipped a year!" I protested. She denied it, but I knew it was true. One minute she was nine, suddenly she's eleven. What happened to ten?
I have to keep a sharp eye out. My older daughter pulled this trick several times and got away with it some and it isn't the first time my younger daughter has tried to put one past me.
But not this time. I've already laid down the law. Starting tomorrow, she has to do ten over again. She doesn't like it, but she has to learn that you can't just skip over things. Not when you're nine. After you turn 50, well, that's a different story. We'll talk about that after my nine...(excuse me) ten-year-old goes to bed.
